If you spoke my name today I would cry
Seas of bittersweet seas
That you may sail more swiftly to me
If you spoke my name today I would crumple
Into a dying flower
My petals drifting silently to the cold-packed earth
Leaving a trail for you to follow
If you spoke my name
I would submit today
Leave everything
In a cloud of ruin and devastation
Not even knowing what I am leaving it for
If you spoke my name today I would sprout wings
To fly us
Someplace warm and high
If you spoke my name today
I would do nothing.
For I know that it is all a lie.
